Reiki
Reiki is a ancient Japanese technique rediscovered in the late 1800s by Mikao Usui who taught healing techniques. It is used successfully for stress reduction and relaxation which also promotes healing. Reiki is not massage, hypnosis or a tool for diagnosing illness. It is an emotional balancing technique that addresses both chronic and acute conditions. Reiki gently and powerfully promotes balance among all the body's systems and the regenerative natural healing processes of body and mind.
Studies of Reiki show significant reduction of pain, including cancer pain, following treatment. Psychotherapy and medical patients report increased feelings of relaxation and a sense of well-being. It is often successfully used in cases of depression, anxiety and even panic attacks. One study cited improvement in immune and nervous system function and increased mobility in patients with conditions such as multiple schlerosis, lupus and fibromyalgia. At Phoenixville Hospital in Pennsylvania, cancer patients are offered Reiki pre- and post-operative. They have reported quicker recovery times and a sense of calm and relaxation.
The pracitioner simply places his or hands on or above your head, shoulders, back, chest, stomach and limbs. They routinely follow a series of hand positions, but can place their hands anywhere you would like them to, for example over an injury or other area of discomfort. You lie clothed on a massage table, or even seated in a chair to receive Reiki which can be done in a few minutes or normally an hour. The ancient teachings say that universal energy flows, not from the practitioner but rather through the practitioner to you. You receive just the right amount of energy to rebalance your mind/body/spirit/emotions. It is important for the Reiki client to accept responsibility for her or his own healing and take an active part in this healing system for it to be effective.
So, why not try Reiki today!
